General Description

Bordeaux Red (also known as Acid Red 17) is an azo dye used in various industrial applications, but its presence in wastewater poses environmental and health risks due to its toxic and potentially carcinogenic properties. Recent studies have demonstrated its effective removal using Fe3 O4 -loaded coffee waste hydrochar (Fe3 O4 -CHC) as an adsorbent, particularly when enhanced by ultrasound-assisted treatment, achieving complete decolorization under optimized conditions. The modified hydrochar exhibits improved adsorption capacity due to its increased surface area and stability, making it a viable solution for wastewater treatment. The adsorption process follows a monolayer mechanism, as indicated by the Langmuir model, and the material shows good reusability, suggesting potential for sustainable dye removal applications.

Properties and Applications

blue-ray red. Purple powder. Soluble in water is product red, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in other organic solvents. The dye in strong sulfuric acid is deep blue, it will be diluted red for product; Slightly soluble in nitric acid blue light is red, yellow for change after red; 10% sodium hydroxide solution in a red light brown solution. Its water solution and strong hydrochloric acid is dark red; Add sodium hydroxide for orange brown. Used for wool, silk products dyeing, leather, paper, biological products dyeing. Its Barium salt can be used as organic pigments.
